Join us for an informative program featuring Leona Conner, a native of Giles County and retired Huntsville Police Department officer. Leona will share an inside look at Southeastern Search Dogs and CSI K9s, specialized K-9 teams dedicated to search and rescue and investigative support. Lee has been raising and training dogs for more than 50 years. The dogs in SESD are certified through the U.S. Police Canine Association and have been used nationally and internationally for searches in very demanding situations and terrain. These include natural disasters as well as operations transitioning from rescue to recovery. Learn how these highly trained dogs assist law enforcement and the public in locating missing persons and following up on credible leads in cold cases. Their services are provided at no cost—there is no charge or reimbursement required for individuals or agencies. The teams’ expertise is trusted statewide and beyond. The State of Tennessee requested them to assist in East Tennessee after they returned from Hurricane Helene, which devastated East Tennessee and North Carolina. This program is open to the public and law enforcement. Admission is free.
